How to boost battery life on Nexus 4 with Android 5.0 Lollipop

Nexus 4 even though more than 2 generations old stills packs some punch. There are two major complaints by Nexus 4 users since its inception one is its battery life sucks and other is its camera its a bit below average. Not much can be done about the camera however there are few tricks using which you can have a maximum impact on battery life. Surprisingly after updating Nexus 4 to Android Lollipop the phone's performance has really slowed down.

1. Display:

If you keep your Display to around 10% brightness or minimum you can save lot of battery.

2. GPS:

Nexus 4 battery drains like sand in a hour glass when using GPS, I have seen it go down full charge in just 1 -2 hours. Shutting the GPS off can really save lot of battery on your Nexus 4 as lollipop has multiple services which keep reporting your location in background especially Google Now. You can always use it when you are navigating in your car but make sure when you don't need it just shut it off. I was able to add at least 2 to 3 hours of extra battery life.

3. WIFI and Data connectivity:

In case you are really low in battery and your primary goal is to do voice calling then you can shut WIFI and data connectivity which will essentially add few more hours of battery life to your phone.

4. Avoid Overcharge:

One of the main reasons why batteries start dying fast is people do overnight charging. This is not a Nexus 4 specific problem but universal one. A typical smartphone can be fully charged in a matter of couple of hours or at max 3. As soon as the charge is full please remove it from the charging station. One way to avoid over charging is setting up a 3 hour alarm but it can be little inconvenient at night, but some people do wake up in the night for them this is a great trick.

5. Battery Usage:

Check your battery usage from settings. Check which apps use maximum battery. If some Apps are not used since long time you can actually uninstall them. Getting rid of junk unused Apps can save you lot of battery life.

These are very simple steps to prolong your Nexus 4 battery life.
