How to select all the conversations in a gmail search result?

Do you know a way in which you can select all the mails matching a search criteria to take a particular action like deleting or archiving in one shot. If you are cleaning up your Gmail account and you are frustrated with clicking select all then deleting and again moving to next page of results again repeating the process.

Well here is a productive gmail tip for you. When you put some search criteria in Gmail it usually displays only 20 results per page and if you want to avoid going to next page of results and select all the results without even going on the next page of results here is what you do.
  1. Put your search criteria.
  2. Select All in the first search result.
  3. You will notice a new option enabled in the top middle of the search result page.
  4. "Select all conversations that match this search" just click on it.
  5. Perform the action on all the results.
